VISITORS: BROOKE SYKES

Brooke Sykes

Brooke Sykes is a visiting PhD student from Betsy Arnold’s lab at the University of Arizona. She is expanding her knowledge of molecular phylogenetics and taking the Systematic Biology course taught by François and Carlos.

Brooke holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biology and is broadly interested in host-associated microbiomes. Her Ph.D. research focuses on the endophytes of wild plants – specifically, she is interested in global patterns of foliar fungal endophyte biodiversity and the importance of endophytes in terrestrial plant ecology, evolution, and conservation. She also collaborates with the Lutzoni lab to examine crucial fungal symbioses in the threatened Arctic tundra.
