Research Interests

My research focuses on the diversity, taxonomy and systematics of lichens. I am using the combination of field studies, traditional taxonomical methods (morphology, microscopy, thin layer chromatography) and molecular phylogenetics, to understand the morphological and genetic delimitation of species.
I am applying these methods to the species of the Peltigera canina complex (Peltigeraceae), to detect potential cryptic speciation, hybridization, and study how the selectivity of the Nostoc photobiont influences the speciation of the fungal species.
