Ashley GartinOriginally from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, I am a freshman this year at Duke University working under Dr. Ryoko Oono in the Lutzoni Lab as a research assistant. Since my primary interests lie in microbiology and genetics, I really enjoy helping with Dr. Oono’s work in endophyte identification through genetic techniques and in researching the antimicrobial effects of endophytes in pine seedlings. I am planning to pursue a biology degree and a research career, and therefore I love the wonderful atmosphere and interesting work of the Lutzoni Lab. |
